    Description

A superb and rare image of the famous 1,260cc V4
    Ducati Apollo
    .
In the beginning of the 1960’s the American Ducati importer in the person of Joe Berliner approached Ducati to build them a police motorcycle in an attempt to replace the ageing H-D police machines in the
    USA
. The result was the Apollo. This gigantic and very heavy machine was designed by Fabio Taglioni. It featured a 1,260cc V four pushrod engine with a five speed gearbox and duplex chain drive. There were two versions, the regular version delivered a power output of 80 bhp @ 6,000 r.p.m., the sports version 100 bhp @ 7,000 r.p.m. By the end of 1963 the first bike was build. Unfortunately it was no success, as the not yet fully grown concept proved to be unwanted by the various police forces.
This is your rare chance to own an image that reflects a very interesting piece of Ducati’s glorious history. Therefore it is printed in a nice large format of ca. 8" x 11.8" (ca. 20 x
    30 cm
    ).
