This was the first forefather of the 250cc and 350cc world championship winning Harley-Davidson machines with which
Walter Villa
scored the
250cc world title

1974

and
1976
; and the
350cc world title
in
1976
, making it a double that year!
The new twin was initiated after the big success of the 125cc two stroke racing single. It was basically build as a double 125, sharing one joint crankcase. The first prototype was build in
1970
and tested extensively by works rider
Renzo Pasolini
. This machine is visible on the photograph that the winner of this auction will receive. Development went rapidly and a 350cc version was also soon being build. Water cooling also became an engineering fact on this fast racing machine and soon the racing successes came flooding in.
This incredible Harley-Davidson or Aermacchi-HD racing machine clinched no less then four world titles in three years!
