The Honda CS 71 Dream was a motorcycle that was a revelation in the motorcycle world. It was the first modern motorcycle with an electric starter, and its trouble free use and maintenance also was something that hardly was experienced before. Besides that, its power output of 18 hp at 7,400 r.p.m. was at the time unsurpassed for a 250. The Honda Dream soon became a legend, and formed the base for many successful successors. The two cylinders of the CS71 engine had a bore and stroke of 54 x

. The CS71 was developed from the C70 of the previous year. The Honda Dream CS71 had a weight of

) and could reach a top speed of

(120 km/hr).
