    Description

A superb and rare photo, made from what we believe is the original glass-plate negative, of
    Giuseppe Guzzi
behind the wheel of his car on the road leading into
    Mandello del Lario
(hometown of Moto Guzzi) in the
    1910 ‘s
. The photograph originally was made as an advertisement photo. Giuseppe had a business in cars, motorcycles, bicycles, petrol, electric engines, ventilation and heating systems. However, he became famous for his engineering inventions for
    Moto Guzzi
, the company that his younger brother founded together with his friend Giorgio Parodi.
Giuseppe Guzzi did very fundamental and very innovative work for Moto Guzzi. He was very advanced in his ideas regarding motorcycle chassis engineering. He designed in 1926 the first ever successfully working fully sprung motorcycle frame. The engineering principle of the sprung rear frame is still used today by Harley-Davidson with their Softail rear chassis design with the shocks underneath the engine. Giuseppe travelled to the
    Norway
to prove the durability of his design. Up until the day of today, this is remembered by the
    Moto Guzzi 1200 Norge
    , which is Italian for
    Norway
. In 1935 the first fully sprung racers won a TT on the Isle of Man. They were Moto Guzzi ‘s, featuring Giuseppe Guzzi ‘s chassis design. A year later all factory racing machines featured rear springing…
Carlo Guzzi, co-founder of Moto Guzzi, was the protégé of Giuseppe Guzzi. He always kept a close eye and was influential on his brother ‘s achievements with Moto Guzzi.
If you are into Moto Guzzi , or if you own a Norge 1200 , then this photograph will be very interesting for you.
It is a rare photograph, made from a
    1910‘s glass plate negative
. The text that is visible on the photo has been applied on the glass plate negative. It heralds Giuseppe Guzzi ‘s business.
So, this is your rare chance to own this photo that reflects a very interesting and highly historic piece of Moto Guzzi and motorcycling history. Therefore it is printed in a nice large format of ca. 7.5" x 12" (ca. 19 x
    30 cm
    ).
