    Description

A superb and rare photo. Shown is the magnificent
Moto Morini 250cc Grand Prix - Gran Premio - factory racer
    of
    1967
. It was the last year this amazing machine was raced. Interestingly, in the photograph we see on the left, in suit,
    Commandatore Alfonso Morini
, the owner and founder of Moto Morini. Next to him, in leathers, we see
    Angelo Bergamonti
. On the bike is the brilliant
    ing. Lambertini
    .
    The
Moto Morini 250cc Grand Prix factory racer
was one of the best 250cc single cylinder racing four strokes ever build. It was introduced in the middle of September 1957, and featured double overhead camshafts that were driven by a chain. By 1964 it delivered a great power output of over 30 hp at 10,000 r.p.m., and had a dry weight of only
    248 lb
(113 kgs). It was a magnificent machine, that was extremely successful against the heavy Japanese competition. Tarquinio Provini gave the Moto Morini GP single its early racing successes. When he left Moto Morini for Benelli during 1963, the 22 year old Giacomo Agostini took his place. He immediately knew great success on the Grand Prix single, and won the 1964 Italian Championship. Bergamonti won the Italian Championship in 1967 on the photographed machine, beating a Benelli four cylinder works racer and a Montesa two stroke twin works racer in the process!
