word that means footwear. According to Rigveda, it represents the universe. There is a reason why padukas are considered important. It is believed that in ancient times when Lord Ram was ordered to go into exile, Bharata kept his paduka as a symbol of the throne. He prayed the paduka considering it to be Lord Ram.
Also, during Diwali footprints of Goddess Laxmi are drawn in the house that signifies prosperity.
